Abby Lentz began practicing yoga after becoming a mom in 1974. She earned her Kripalu Teaching Certification in June, 2004 and is founder of HeavyWeight Yoga®.

She has studied yoga with three of Yoga Journal’s Yoga Innovators — Lilias Folan, Judith Lasater and Erich Schiffmann. Abby mastered yoga skills in seven of Folan’s workshops at Feathered Pipe Ranch and the Crossings.

Certified as a Relax & Renew® Instructor by Judith Lasater, Abby added Restorative Yoga in the Fall of 2005.

Abby has appeared on Better, then nationally syndicated lifestyle show from Better Homes and Gardens. She was a presentor at the Obesity Health conference in San Antonio and other corporate events and conferences.

In addition to yoga, Abby is an avid bicyclist and movie goer. She walked the Dublin City Marathon in 2000 to benefit the Arthritis Foundation and is a triathlete, having twice completed the Danskin Triathlon. She has been a rider in two of Lance Armstrong's Ride for the Roses and in the Hill Country Ride for AIDS. Currently she's working on her next DVD, HeavyWeight Yoga 3: Fun with Sun Salutations.

Seemingly living her life in reverse, Abby didn't go to college until she was 30. In 1982 she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin where she was a Presidental Scholar. She's also a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi.
